Minutes of the HACTAC March 15, 2023

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm
Minutes:
A motion was made by Roger and second by Dave to accept the Jan. 18, 2023 minutes as presented. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report:
See Attached. Charles provided and went over the reports.
Beginning of the year checking balance was $6,426.75.
Deposit of $2,000 - The annual Comcast payment.
Debit of $31.21 for Domain Name Renewal with Hosting CT.
Ending balance of $8,395.54.
HACTAC has 2 Certificates of deposits, one 12-month and one 11-month.
The 11-month CD matured on March 5th and was rolled over.
Interest paid on the two CDs collectively $1.39.
The combined ending balance was $11,152.29.
A motion was made by Alan and seconded by Zenobia to accept the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Motion passed.
Town Reports
Bloomfield: Alan reported all status quo in Bloomfield. Howard is doing more with YouTube. Zenobia added Howard is doing what needs to be done. Going well. Alan & Zenobia added funding continues to be an issue.
East Hartford: Brenda reported business as usual. Chuck added the station had to move to the East Hartford Community Cultural Center because of the Town Hall renovation. They have been setting up the new studio space.
Simsbury: Dick reported they have been busy with programming.
West Hartford: Roger reported they were busy with additional special Town meetings and will be doing fundraising and special programming in honor of the retiring Town Clerk.
Windsor: Charles reported video podcasts have started in the studio. There have been three new programs since the beginning of the year. The winter afterschool program for middle schoolers had the largest class ever.
Patricia suggested a local business contact HACTAC when they had no internet for three weeks. Dick has not heard from them but indicated HACTAC is for TV services.
Hartford: No report.
COMCAST: No report.
Chairman’s Report: Dick received three complaints about Comcast service from one customer in Hartford, Dick contacted Matt, the problem was fixed, the customer continues to write letters and wants a credit, Dick told her to contact PURA. The Annual Report to PURA was filed in Nov 2022. Three letters to PURA received from Comcast Attorneys for channel line-up and pricing changes.
Statewide Advisory Council: Alan indicated they were pushing for legislation for internet subscriber funding for PEGs but was pushed from committee into a two-year study instead.
Old Business: None
New Business: Because everyone enjoys the convenience of Zoom meetings, Charles has set up a Zoom account for HACTAC. He needed to use his own credit card to set up the account and will be reimbursed.
Adjournment: As there was no additional business to come before the Board, a motion was made by Alan and second by Charles to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be via Zoom, on May 17th at 7:00 pm. Karen will send out an email to poll everyone to be sure we have a quorum, so please respond.
