See attached financials.  A motion was made by Alan and second by Roger to accept the Sept. Treasurer’s report subject to audit.  Motion passed.

Town Reports:

Bloomfield: Alan reported that BATV is connected! though coax cable is still missing. Comcast and Eversource still need to run cable to town hall. Got PEGPETIA check. They have been working on PSA’s about the Census and with the BOE to keep parents up to date. Zenobia added that Howard has done a lot and gone above and beyond. People are watching the meetings.

East Hartford: Brenda reported things at the station are at a standstill, town meetings are via Zoom. Monday’s BOE meeting is an in-person meeting at a different location.

Hartford: No report

Simsbury: Karen reported that all town meetings are being streamed and cablecast live via Zoom, sometimes two meetings/channels simultaneously. Only a couple of interview Zoom shows. Busy purchasing and installing new equipment with PEGPETIA funds.

West Hartford: Roger reported it is similar in West Hartford with no in-person meetings and using Zoom. BOE had one in person meeting too. Jen has been busy working with Black Lives Matter programming; and her health is good. Candace added, because the station is in the town hall it has been closed and recently opened by appointment only. Remote producers are working. Fundraising is in process having a good response with snail mail letter. Utilized HFPG.

Windsor: Dave reported that it has been quiet, with everything but essentials in the building being closed. Charles added that the board of directors now have access to the building and are putting protocols and a waiver in place for in-person activity. At the last board meeting there was discussion of the out of whack financials because of the PEGPETIA money, but they made the needed adjustments.

COMCAST: Matt provided this information:

Internet Essentials Update:

With more than half of all U.S. students starting the 2020-2021 school year online or in a blending learning model due to COVID-19, Comcast recently announced a new partnership program for cities, school districts, and community organizations to connect large numbers of low-income students and families to the Internet at home. Additionally, Comcast has expanded the reach of its xFi platform to put parental controls into the hands of even more parents.

  • Our new “Internet Essentials Partnership Program” (IEPP) enables participating organizations to sponsor or pay for service on behalf of families. Sponsored families have access to all the benefits Internet Essentials has to offer—a high-speed Internet connection at home, the option to purchase a low-cost computer, and access to free digital skills training in person (if safe), online, and in print. internetessentials.com/sponsor
  • Comcast’s xFi platform is also now available to all Internet Essentials customers. It provides parents with a digital dashboard to set up, manage, and monitor their home Wi-Fi; set safe-browsing modes so children can only access age-appropriate content; and even pause Wi-Fi access to devices for dinner or bedtime.

These announcements build on our recent commitments to continue to offer new customers two months of the Internet Essentials program for free through the end of 2020 and to continue to forgive any back debt due so more families can apply.  Click here to learn more about how Comcast supports digital equity for low-income households.
